WHAT A COMBINATION!!!

In order to meet the official rules of the FaGowee what ever, the new slate of officers has to be published about 30 days before the elections. That’s why Andrea sent a notice of the slate to all members who have emails. Otherwise, we would have had elections at the Cinco de Mayo party. If anyone else wants to run for an office, I think there are nominations “from the floor” that can be brought forth at that time. It’s YOUR club so as with any other election; you need to vote in order to complain.

So, now that the slate of officers for the 2009-2010 year has been posted, we need to get together and vote! This is to happen on Tuesday evening, May 26^th at 6:30 pm at Mountain Mike’s Pizza, 8112 Madison Ave., Fair Oaks. Mountain Mike’s is on the SE corner of the Madison & Fair Oaks Intersection in a strip center, towards the back corner for those of you who may be directionally challenged.

Besides all the election and social stuff, Mountain Mikes has really good pizzas, a salad bar and crisp, cold beer or sodas. There are discount coupons in some phone books and in the Entertainment book so clip them out and save yourself some moolah!

Here it is May! A very busy month for all of us, as there is the 2^nd most popular holiday/occasion where everyone becomes a citizen from across the border, “Cinco de Mayo”. Here is not green beer, but refried beans and Tecate, Multi colors and fast music. This is also the month we elect our next board to lead us on for 2009-2010. This is going to be hard on everyone since it follows the past month where we all gave at the alter. Check with your doctor to make sure your heart is in the right place. It appears we have a solid slate of individual stepping up to lead. Election with be the 26^th of May and your voting booths will be located at 8112 Madison Ave in Fair Oaks, Mountain Mike’s Pizza time for the social and campaigning starting at 6:30pm.
With this, I will sign off offering this point of view:

The never knowing of what is next

Your interaction to all of this is by your choosing.

Thus, you must take the selections and judgments you make with the responsibility and consequents. Though most things we see and do are small, you have helped in the forging of history. Don’t sit back, but go forward and enjoy your life.

Pictures Wanted!!!

We keep a photographic record of FaGowee events. In case you weren't aware, I do bring the FaGowee photo albums to each and every FaGowee function for all to look at, enjoy and remember those times they depict. But I cannot keep up with the albums unless I have your photos to include in them. I depend on you, the general membership, to supply those photos for the albums.

So please take pictures when you're at a FaGowee function and get copies of the prints to me so I can add them to our archives.

For the sake of ease in creating and displaying the photo pages, I'd prefer the prints to be formatted to be 4"x 6" in size. Also, I would like the event photos to be in groups of 6 so they will take up an entire page in the album.

If you have any questions or photos you'd be willing to part with, please contact me at 916-817-4277.

Although I am always looking for photos of all events, right now I'm specifically looking for pictures of FaGowees skiing and racing and having fun at the ski resorts this past ski season.

Almost all of the ski areas have closed for the season and our unused Homewood and Sugar Bowl tickets will be returned to the ski areas on May 4^th while our unused Alpine and Northstar tickets will be returned on May 11^th. If you still have tickets to return for these areas you need to contact me ASAP. This summer the board will be reviewing the discount ticket program. Due to declining sales over the last couple of years, the cub is considering scaling back or possibly eliminating the discount ticket program. Homewood, Northstar, and Sugar Bowl are the most likely areas to be eliminated. If you have any concerns you can forwarded them to me or you can contact the new board directly. More information on the club’s decision should be available in the September 2009 newsletter.

Several club members have recently made inquiries as to the possibility of placing personal advertisements in the Snow News. The Executive Board addressed that question at the January ’05 Executive Board Meeting. Effective immediately, we will be accepting personal advertisements for publication in your newsletters.

If you have something to sell or if you want to advertise your business, you can now place your personal advertisement in the Snow News, and your cost of placing each ad will be as follows:

The Publications Editor has the right to refuse any advertisement that may be deemed inappropriate.

The car rally is on!!!

IT’S REALLY A COMBINATION CAR RALLY & WEEKEND ROAD TRIP

Main Theme is the 1941-1945 WWII Era.

We’ll start out at Denny’s Diner at Howe Ave. & Hwy. 50 at 9 AM on Saturday morning. You’ll follow clues until we get to the last one of the stopping places where you can buy lunch if you wish Then we’ll just tell you where the next stop will be. During the day you will be in and out of your car a lot!!! Don’t want to drive alone? No worries, we’ll match you up with some loveable, laughable person who can help you find your way.

After the Treasure Hunt at that stop, you’ll go back to the place where we last met. Pick up a special card and from there you have to follow clues to the next stop. You’ll have to look for some Trivia information at that site. After that, we’ll just tell you where the next stop will be and we can guarantee you’ll have fun! Can you spell Bocce Ball?

Follow a few more clues and they will lead you to your night time destination. It’s easy.

Dinner will be at a very unusual establishment where you will feel like you have stepped back in time to 1943. We guarantee the food will be delicious and fill you up. If you are a vegetarian, let Kati know. Otherwise, we are all served like you’re in a military mess hall.

The entertainment is set to put you back to 1943 also. Dress up in a style from the 1941-45 era. Uniforms from the various services, housedress, Rosie the Riveter, Movie Star (Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Audie Murphy, Roy Rogers, Bette Davis, Tracy & Hepburn, Bogie & Bacall, etc.) We all get to sing along to tunes from WWII. Just like at a USO canteen. Use your imagination and join the troops.

A Continental Breakfast will greet you on Sunday morning and we’ll figure out who won what. Then you can wonder and wander all over the area if you wish and have a wonderful day to finish a fun and wonderful weekend. We guarantee you will feel like you’ve had a great get-away weekend! Time out to have fun and relax with friends.

Cost is $75.00 per person and FaGowees is paying for the balance. It’s just one of the many benefits of being a member. If you are not a member, you can either join for what ever the appropriate dues are or pay $125.00 per person.
