Activity:   St. Patrick’s Dinner & Social meeting

Member price:              $6.00

Activity Date:  Tuesday, March 17, 2009  Non-member price:  $8.00
Activity Leaders:   Kati White & Board members

RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY SATURDAY, MARCH 14th

YOU MAY “PAY AT THE DOOR” BUT IF YOU RESERVE A PLACE & DON’T SHOW UP,
YOU WILL BE BILLED FOR THE FOOD YOU DIDN’T EAT.

‘Tis time for the wearin’ o’ the green if ya don’t wear it, ya might just get pinched! Whee! Kati White will furnish a Corned Beef, Cabbage, Potatoes & Carrots dinner on the date stated above, at her home. Socializing starts at 6:30 pm. She will also purchase Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream and bake Brownies as  dessert items.  Attendees will furnish their own liquid refreshments, including Green Beer if that’s what you like.  A little “lobaircin”  told me you won’t find a better dinner for the $6.00 price this side of Erie.

Game tables will have been set up for diners so that after dinner, various board, Mexican Train or Bunco games may be played.  There will be some St. Patrick’s Trivia to be answered and the one who gets the most correct answers gets a prize.  How lucky is your Shamrock?  The evening should conclude at approximately 9:30 pm so we won’t be keepin’ ya up late.

To make your reservation or get directions, call Kati @ (916) 804-3991 or email her.  Erin go Bragh!

Where would YOU like to go for the

Prez Says

February has brought us the kind of weather that we have not seen for awhile, thank goodness!  The snow, ice and winds are making it easy for March to not come in as a lamb but as the Lion.  Button up your overcoats (do they still use the term?) and put on the gloves and hats.  For those who missed the announcement, February 2nd, the Famous Ground Hog (who can spell Punxatony?) Phil saw his/her shadow so winter is going to hang around for 6 more weeks.  I used “his/her” because I heard the fuzzy critter may be a “lady”.  You know how rumors go.

February included the Ski Getaway over Presidents Weekend and it was great weather for it.  Thanks Andrea and Lee for hosting it and Wally for his accommodations.  I hear Wally will have more opportunities for staying at his Tahoe City cabin so you can check with him on that.

March is a busy month!  Andrea is heading up the fun the first days of March for Snow Fest Days at Lake Tahoe.  Day Light Saving is March 8th.  That means spring ahead or setting your clocks forward an hour. (Remember “Spring Forward & Fall Back?) Also Tuesday, March 17th is St Patrick’s Day and we’ll be having our March Social meeting a week earlier than usual.  March 20th is the first day of Spring.  House and yard cleaning time.  Good Luck...  So, to end this month’s letter, be sure to get your cabbage and carrots to put in the pot with the Corn Beef.  Happy Green Beer to all.

P.S.  Be sure to check the Social and Snow News for all up coming events.

Pictures Wanted!!!
Bob McDonald

We keep a photographic record of FaGowee events.  In case you weren't aware, I do bring the FaGowee photo albums to each and every FaGowee function for all to look at, enjoy and remember those times they depict.  But I cannot keep up with the albums unless I have your photos to include in them.  I depend on you, the general membership, to supply those photos for the albums.

So please take pictures when you're at a FaGowee function and get copies of the prints to me so I can add them to our archives.

For the sake of ease in creating and displaying the photo pages, I'd prefer the prints to be formatted to be 4"x 6" in size.  Also, I would like the event photos to be in groups of 6 so they will take up an entire page in the album.

If you have any questions or photos you'd be willing to part with, please contact me at 916-817-4277.

PICTURES WANTED:

Although I am always looking for photos of all events, right now I'm specifically looking for pictures of FaGowees skiing and racing and having fun at the ski resorts this past ski season.

See Photos Online!!!

ALSO looking for pictures for the newsletter!!!

Do We Have Your Correct Email Address???

A lot of our announcements go out by email.
If your email has changed, please contact Andrea NOW!!
You can also contact her regarding address and phone number.
If you want an email going out to membership with your new email address, let her know.

Discount Tickets ~ Robert Rice

Each year the club offers members the chance to purchase lift tickets to the most popular North Tahoe resorts at a discount (usually $9 to $11 below the normal price). Just send in a completed order form and a check to get tickets at the beginning of the season. And the best part is, you can turn in your tickets at the end of the season by the posted deadline for a credit towards tickets next year. The Order Form is posted on the Sacramento FaGowees web site or you can contact me via phone or e-mail and I’ll send you an order form.

All tickets are direct to lift, which means that you don’t have to go to the ticket window. Squaw Valley uses an electronic ticket scanner which means you just put your ticket in your pants pocket and your ticket is read remotely. Place only ONE Squaw ticket in your pocket per day. Tickets are still available for five popular North Tahoe ski areas.

CODE OF CONDUCT AT FaGOWEE EVENTS
(Adopted and Approved by the FaGowee Executive Board on November 13, 2007)

At each event, the event chairperson has the final say.  Therefore, if you have a problem or concern with the event, you may approach the event coordinator and express your concern in a constructive manner.  If it is not resolved to your satisfaction at that time, do not argue or make a scene.  You may present your concern to the Executive Board in writing or in person at any Executive Board meeting.

All FaGowee events are planned to be fun for all those in attendance.  The Board, as outlined in Article VII, Section 2 of the By-Laws of the FaGowee Constitution, may discipline those persons who unnecessarily or excessively disrupt the fun for others resulting from their rude or obnoxious behavior.

FaGOWEE FUNCTION OR EVENT SIGN-UP LATE FEES
(Approved and Adopted at the Executive Board Meeting on July 11, 2006)

SIGN-UP LATE FEES: On each and every advertised FaGowee club event published in the Snow News newsletter, a sign-up due date will be listed as well as the member and non-member prices to attend that function or event. Any person who signs up and submits their payment for attendance after that published due date will be assessed a 50% late fee penalty. In addition, any person who does not sign up at all to attend a function or event and just shows up at the door will be assessed a 100% late fee penalty (payable in full at that time) before being allowed admittance to that function or event.

FaGOWEE EVENT / TRIP REFUND POLICY
Revised, Approved and Adopted at the Executive Board Meeting, October 8, 2003

  1. The following Refund Policy applies to any Club event for which a fee is charged.

  2. You will automatically receive a 100% refund fur any trip or event cancelled by the Club.

  3. If you cancel and someone takes your place from the waiting list, you will receive a refund of the amount you paid, less a cancellation fee. The cancellation  fee will be $10.00 or 10% of the event/trip fee- whichever is more, unless a specific cancellation fee is advertised for the event/trip.

  4. If you cancel and there is no waiting list, or no one on the list takes your place, you will receive a refund of the amount you paid less a cancellation fee and less any expenses that the Club incurs due to your cancellation.

  5. If you arrange for someone not on the waiting list to take your place, you will be responsible for full payment to the Club plus any transfer fees or costs the Club incurs because of the change. Other money transactions are between you and your replacement. You must provide that replacement with a note for the trip leader or you must confirm the replacement directly with the trip leader prior to the event/trip. The person who submits payment must request all refunds from the Executive Board in writing within 60 days after the completion of the event/trip. The Executive Board will review the final financial report from the event/trip and may approve refunds in accordance with this refund policy.

  6. Any member may appeal to the Executive Board for refunds greater than provided by this policy if special circumstances warrant.

  7. There will be no refund for events that are designated as "Fund Raisers" unless they are cancelled or rescheduled by the Club.
