Says
The ski season is half over and that’s where the phrase "March Madness" originates. Think about it, you now have to make up in half the time the days you missed skiing from the first half of the season. It all started Halloween weekend! (Sierra resorts opened). The Snow Festival in Tahoe City begins March 4th at Squaw Valley and ends March 13th at Alpine Meadows. Many events include the "How Much Jagermeister Can You Drink" contest, The Naughty Dawg Pull, The Polar Bear Swim, Ice Sculptures, The Frank Sinatra Spaghetti Dinner, Cal Neva Underground Tunnels tour, Torchlight Parade, and, much, much more! For more information log on to: www.TAHOESNOWFESTIVAL.com, or call 530-546-5253. The elections for the executive board the greatest ski, recreation, and, social club on the planet will be held at the general meeting on the 4th Tuesday in May. The nomination committee (Jackie Chesi, Bob McDonald, and Fred Conjour) is seeking candidates for positions on the board. If you would like to run for a position, or nominate someone, please let one of the committee members know. See you on the slopes,
Sacramento

| Discount Tickets
It’s not too late to get discount ski lift tickets for this season. I
still have a limited number of tickets for five major North Tahoe ski
areas. These tickets are up to $12 off the regular price and many of the
tickets are direct-to-lift, meaning that you just attach them and hit the
slopes without waiting in the ticket line. Unused tickets may be returned
by the May 1st deadline for a credit towards next year.
Just send me an order form and I can mail your tickets (please allow 10
for processing and delivery) or you can pick up tickets at the monthly
meeting. You can also give me a call and arrange to pick your tickets up. Homewood – Discount price: $34 (regular price $44). Homewood also offers $25 tickets Monday-Thursday during non-holiday periods (so don’t use your discount tickets on these days). Northstar - Discount Direct to lift price: $49 ($12 off regular price). You can also use your Northstar ticket at Sierra-at-Tahoe and get an $8 food and beverage voucher. Squaw Valley - Discount price: $51 ($11 off the regular). Sugar Bowl - Discount Direct to lift price: $45. Regular prices at least $59 (weekends) & $44 (weekdays). Order forms are available on the web site at: www.ricero.com/fagowee/tickets.htm, or you may contact me and I'll send you a form. Tickets will also be available at meetings and some social events. WHO?
ALL INTERESTED FaGOWEE MEMBERS & GUESTSWHAT?
ANNUAL 2005 ABALONE DIVE & DINE CAMPING TRIPWHEN?
THURSDAY, AUGUST 11th TO SUNDAY, AUGUST 14th, 2005WHERE?
CASPAR BEACH R/V PARK & CAMPGROUND in MENDOCINOWHY?
AFFAFFA (All For Fun And Fun For All)I realize that an article regarding an upcoming trip scheduled for next August may seem a bit early to be placed in this month’s Snow News. But it’s never too early to start planning this year’s annual Abalone Dive, placing it on your calendar, and making whatever reservations you need to make in order to attend this not-to-be-missed annual event. Last year’s Abalone Dive & Dine in Mendocino surpassed all past attendance records and everybody there had a great time. I can see no reason that this year’s event will be any different. I have some fun contests planned for your entertainment. Due to numerous requests last year, I have added an additional day to this event and we will start this event on Thursday instead of Friday.
The Ab-Grass Band will be there again this year for our nightly entertainment. They are a group of friends that get together, dive for abalone during the day and play bluegrass music in the evenings. For the past two years, they have been the source of much-enjoyed entertainment for the entire campground and they will be located right across the road from our R/V sites. Even if you don’t like abalone, just hearing them play and sing is worth the cost of attendance.
I have reserved 14 R/V sites and the entire back tent camping area this year, and the R/V sites are going fast. You R/V’ers need to let me know if you plan to attend (and your planned dates of attendance) ASAP so I can reserve your site for you.
COSTS?
The fees for this trip will vary, depending on your individual participation as follows:
R/V Camping Fees: $33 per night – most sites have full hookups available. Those using R/V sites
will be responsible for paying their camping fees to the R/V park. The R/V
campers will pay the club for the “Saturday Night Dinner Only” fees for their
attendance.
Tent Campers:
Members: $40 ea. “Wildcard” Guests: $40 ea. Other Guests: $50 ea.Thu (8-11) to Sun (8-14)
Saturday Dinner Only:
Members: $25 ea. “Wildcard” Guests: $25 ea. Other Guests: $35 ea.
Divers:
FREE (Please Note: “Divers” are defined as those who physically go under water and return to the surface with abalone for consumption by the attendees at the Saturday Night Dinner.)Children 15 & under: FREE (Children must be accompanied by an adult)
Pets:
The campground charges an additional $2 per night per pet. It is the responsibility of the pet owner to pay this fee to the park.
I will start accepting payments for this trip at the General meeting in February. If you plan to attend and want to bring your R/V, I highly recommend that you get your payment to me early to reserve an R/V space. 1st to pay will be the first to get your choice of R/V sites. You may submit your payments for this trip in person at any General Meeting, or mail them to me at:
