As incoming president, I want to thank the outgoing board members for all of their hard work! We’ve got a good group of new and returning board members who, with the members help, will keep the Club healthy vibrant for years to come.

Speaking of members help, we need your ideas for new or different activities, so if you have any suggestions, please contact the Activities Director or me.

Hope to see you all at the upcoming Potluck/pool party/social meeting June 26th at Diane Wilson’s residence.

Pictures Wanted!!!
Bob McDonald

Take pictures of any FaGowees having fun so I can include them in our photo albums. The albums are brought to each and every FaGowee function with the photos of our past events, and I depend on you, the general membership, to supply those photos for the albums.

So...get those pictures taken so I can add them to our archives.

For the sake of ease in creating and displaying the photo pages, I’d prefer the prints to be 4”x 6” in size. Also, I would like them in groups of 6 so that they will take up a whole page in the album.

If you have any questions, or photos you’d like to part with, please contact me at 817-4277.

I’m Looking For Any Pics of Club Activities:

Fall Foothills, Goldpoint, Hopscotch, Halloween Party,
Bike Ride & General Snow Pics.

See Photos Online!!!

Goldpoint
Since the trip to Goldpoint started, there has been a steady dwindling of participants.
It seems once someone has gone (except for a few stalwarts) they choose not to do it again the following year.

SO

This year, if I don’t have 12 people lined up by August 1st, I’m going to cancel the trip.
You can notify me of your intent by emailing me.  Please do it before August 1st.

FaGOWEE FUNCTION OR EVENT SIGN-UP LATE FEES
(Approved and Adopted at the Executive Board Meeting on July 11, 2006)

SIGN-UP LATE FEES: On each and every advertised FaGowee club event published in the Snow News newsletter, a sign-up due date will be listed as well as the member and non-member prices to attend that function or event. Any person who signs up and submits their payment for attendance after that published due date will be assessed a 50% late fee penalty. In addition, any person who does not sign up at all to attend a function or event and just shows up at the door will be assessed a 100% late fee penalty (payable in full at that time) before being allowed admittance to that function or event.

FaGOWEE EVENT / TRIP REFUND POLICY
Revised, Approved and Adopted at the Executive Board Meeting, October 8, 2003

  1. The following Refund Policy applies to any Club event for which a fee is charged.

  2. You will automatically receive a 100% refund fur any trip or event cancelled by the Club.

  3. If you cancel and someone takes your place from the waiting list, you will receive a refund of the amount you paid, less a cancellation fee. The cancellation  fee will be $10.00 or 10% of the event/trip fee- whichever is more, unless a specific cancellation fee is advertised for the event/trip.

  4. If you cancel and there is no waiting list, or no one on the list takes your place, you will receive a refund of the amount you paid less a cancellation fee and less any expenses that the Club incurs due to your cancellation.

  5. If you arrange for someone not on the waiting list to take your place, you will be responsible for full payment to the Club plus any transfer fees or costs the Club incurs because of the change. Other money transactions are between you and your replacement. You must provide that replacement with a note for the trip leader or you must confirm the replacement directly with the trip leader prior to the event/trip. The person who submits payment must request all refunds from the Executive Board in writing within 60 days after the completion of the event/trip. The Executive Board will review the final financial report from the event/trip and may approve refunds in accordance with this refund policy.

  6. Any member may appeal to the Executive Board for refunds greater than provided by this policy if special circumstances warrant.

  7. There will be no refund for events that are designated as "Fund Raisers" unless they are cancelled or rescheduled by the Club.

ANNUAL ABALONE DIVE & DINE
Thursday to Sunday, August 15-18
Andrea Woelfle

As this year’s coordinator of the abalone dive and dine, I want to remind you, it’s less than 2 months away!
Have you sent in your money yet?  Have you notified us that you plan to dive?
Hurry! You don’t want to miss this (long…if you want) relaxing, delicious, and fun weekend.

Why sweat in Sacramento heat when you can enjoy the coast’s moderate weather and beautiful scenery.  Not only will you have fun socializing with the FaGowees and their friends, but you will also have the chance to explore the coastal villages of Ft, Bragg and Mendocino, enjoy the spectacular botanical gardens, ride the Skunk train, kayak, finish that good book, explore the lighthouse or walk on the beach.  And don’t forget the drum rolls, (I mean abalone pounding!)  And then there’s that relaxing glass of wine or mug of beer sitting on the beach or at that new pub you discovered.  Sure it’s fun to cook and camp out, but sampling that seafood at a local restaurant could be an extra treat.

Then, best of all there will be the Saturday night feast with abalone served
the most delicious ways plus chicken for those on special diets.
Let us know in advance if you have special dietary needs.

The club has reserved 14 R/V sites, most with full hookup and 3 large campsites.
Sites are first paid, first allocated.  There are still some good sites left, but hurry!!

If you need to rent an RV (approximately $90 per night, delivered),
call Mary at FBMCC 707 964-0696 www.fbmcc.com

To reserve your spot, send in your money now ($25 members, $35 non- members!)
This covers the feast and the campfire. Your site will be assigned as soon as I receive your money.
Let me know if you plan to come in a day or days early so that I can reserve your spot!

DEADLINE IS AUGUST 3rd

WHERE:
Caspar Beach R/V Park & Campground
14441 Point Cabrillo Dr
Mendocino, CA 95460
www.casparbeachrvpark.com

YOUR PARTICIPATION COSTS:

· Those staying in R/V sites will be responsible for paying their own camping fees ($30 to $35/night) to the R/V  Park when they get there. The R/V campers will also pay the club the "Saturday Night Dinner Only" fees for their attendance.

· Tent Camping Fees (includes dinner and campfire): Members: $40 ea. "Wildcard" Guests: $40 ea. Other guests: $50 each

· Saturday Dinner Only: Members: $25 ea. "Wildcard" Guests: $25 ea. Other guests: $35 ea.

Divers, sign up by July 10th and your camping or RV site fees will be paid for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.

· Children 15 & under: FREE (Children must be accompanied by an adult)

MOUNT LASSEN/LAVA BEDS GETAWAY
September 20-23

Are you ready for fun?  Are you ready for adventure?
Then sign up now for Don Girard’s excellent travel weekend!
This is not an official FaGowee trip, so all your dealings will be directly with Don.

The itinerary:

Thursday, September 20, 2007
   8:00 am - Leave Sacramento
9:30 am - Meet in Truckee for a hearty breakfast
   10:30 am - Leave Truckee
Stop in Chester for lunch, and then we’ll take a 20 minute drive to Mount Lassen and hike down to Bumpus Hell.   And watch out!  The volcano
could erupt again like it did in 1915!  We’ll watch the hissing fumaroles and boiling mud pots.  (And you will be amazed… this definitely beats
Yellowstone!) Then we’ll drive 10 minutes to the Devastated Area, (but we’ll be happy, not devastated!)   We then drive another 10 minutes to
Hat Creek and the Rim Rock Ranch, a safe haven after that scary Devastated Area!  This is where we’ll be staying the night.
5:00 pm - After we check in we head for the funky bar/restaurant across the street, and relax with libations, all the time admiring the picture of the
half-naked lady.  This will be followed by yet another hearty meal!

Friday, September 21, 2007
9:00 am - Hearty, leisurely breakfast at the neat old ham and egg restaurant next to the Ranch.
10:30 am - We’ll head out to the lava beds, making a stop at Burney for groceries.  We’ll admire all the volcanoes along the way and then stop
Canby for gas and a hearty picnic lunch.
Around 4:00 or 4:30 pm - We should pull into Lava Beds.  This’ll give us time to visit the Visitors Center and check out the cave next to it.  After we set up camp in either RV or tent at the Indian Wells campgrounds, we’ll prepare for yet another hearty (potluck) dinner.  Then it will be campfire and ghost stories.

Saturday, September 22, 2007
After breakfast, we’ve got a day of exploration and discovery before us at Lava Beds.  You may never have another chance like this to view such magnificent cinder and spatter cones, pit craters and lava tubes caves.  Too bad we won’t have time to explore all 600 caves!  We’ll also drive over and check out Captain Jack’s Stronghold.  In between, we’ll have a relaxing lunch with wine at the campground.  Then, of course, we’ll have another hearty dinner, followed by frivolity and maybe games.

Sunday, September 23, 2007
Delicious breakfast, break camp, then mosey down to Redding to check it out.  We’ll cross the Sundial Bridge, explore the new exhibits at the
Turtle Bay Exploration Park.  Yummy lunch.  Then sail on home and start our diets!

Space is limited!  Hurry to sign up!  Contact Don at 638-7804 to reserve a spot.
