Says GOOD NEWS!!! Chains required on I-80 and Hwy 50 as I write this article, so your prayers for the “Snow Gods” to bless us with the winterizing of the ski resorts are being answered. FWSA INFO: FWSA is holding a ski clinic for Slalom and Giant Slalom at Northstar on Saturday & Sunday, Dec 3rd & 4th. They are holding the Ski Race 1 Giant Slalom and party at Northstar on Saturday, Dec 10th. If you’re interested, the FWSA is also sponsoring the 1st Annual National Races to be held at Keystone, CO from Dec 7th to 10th. (See the advertisement flyer elsewhere in this newsletter for more info on this trip) FaGOWEE HOT LINE: The old Sacramento FaGowee hotline has been discontinued. It was the opinion of the majority of the Executive Board that it wasn’t as effective as we would have liked it to be, that the costs didn’t justify the small numbers of hits we were receiving on it. With a club membership so spread out in the Sacramento area, we were not listed in most of the Sacramento area phone books for people to even find us. The majority of the people who have contacted the club have found us through our website. Several club members have expressed their displeasure with the hotline being discontinued to me and my only response can be is for them to check the newsletter for all the info regarding upcoming events. There are many reminders e-mailed to the membership reminding them of upcoming events also. If one still has questions, they can call ANY board member to receive additional info. THE HOLIDAYS: Don’t forget that the FaGowee Christmas Party will be held at the Buggy Whip Restaurant on Dec 10th. (See the advertisement flyer elsewhere in this newsletter) This club is quite diverse, and I don’t want to leave
anyone out, so I want to take the time to officially wish each and every
one of you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah,
Happy Kwanzaa, or Happy Holidays (as the case may be). If you’re going
to be driving out of town, READ YOUR NEWSLETTER
****THE SKI SEASON IS HERE!!!!**** By: Bob McDonald Celebrate the new ski season with pictures! Then I
can include them in our photo albums. I bring a photo album to each
and every FaGowee function with the photos of our past events, and I
depend on you, the general membership, to supply those photos for
the albums. If you have any pics of any FaGowee’s having fun, please
get them to me so I can add them to our archives. For the sake of
ease in creating and displaying the photo pages, I’d prefer the
prints to be 4”x 6” in size. |

The FaGowees race in the Sierra League, which is comprised of several ski clubs in Northern California and the Reno area. Racer levels range from low intermediate to expert. There are 10 ability levels with two age groups in each level. You race against skiers that have the age and ability as you do! Everyone is there to have fun and to improve their skiing while having a friendly competition. There are GS, slalom and one giant slalom races each season for a total of 8 races plus the NorCal and Far West finals. Races are $20 each or you can buy a race pass for about $75 (FaGowees subsidize your race pass by $25, making your membership almost free! And you also get a wonderful gift if you race 3 times in a season.) You (and your friends that show up in the morning to register for the races) get discounted lift tickets on race day! Scared to race? Don’t despair! The first race is free and there are several race clinics, including those before the first races, which are sponsored by the Sierra League.
