Prez Says

I’m sitting here thinking how blessed I’ve been to have met so many friends over the years as a result of being a member of this club.  So thinking of what to say in the Prez Says article has been very difficult for me, because I see another side that really needs to be addressed.
I’m not one that wants to be the bearer of bad news, but I’m saddened to say that I see the very possible demise of the Sacramento FaGowee Ski Club.  This club has been in active existence for over 25 years and has served many members and their friends in many capacities by hosting innumerable events, most being very successful.
However, over the past couple years; I’ve seen a major decline in membership.  The attendance at the general meetings, trips and events we’ve held (with the exception of the annual Abalone Dive and Dine) has been dismal, and interest in general has gone down the drain.
I’ve served as an Executive Board member in several different capacities over the past 8 years, and I’ve served with many dedicated and hard working people that have busted their butts to have this club offer something for everybody.  I’ve talked to the members of the current Board and they cannot continue serving in their current capacities for one reason or another, so we need some new blood to take the helm and guide the club into another year.

The 2007/2008 Executive Board elections are scheduled to be held at the General Membership meeting on May 28th.  As of yet, there have been no nominations for any of the Executive Board positions.

Let’s face it folks – if we don’t have an Executive Board, we have NO club!!!

I’ve been asked what would happen to the club’s assets should dissolution happen.  As a matter of record, if, in the unfortunate event that this club does dissolve, ARTICLE VI, Section 5 of the Sacramento FaGowee Constitution states as follows:

Upon dissolution or winding up of this organization, its assets remaining after the payment of, or provision for the payment of, all debts and liabilities of this organization, shall be distributed to another organization which is organized and operated exclusively for social and recreational purposes and which has established its tax exempt status under Section 50(c)(7) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.  The Executive Board sitting at the time of dissolution shall execute the requirement of this section.

So please talk to your friends and seriously consider about serving yourself to the club that has always been there for you.  Please submit your nominations to Bob McDonald at 916-817-4277 before April 20th so we can get the names of the nominees published in the next issue of the Snow News newsletter prior to the elections next month.  It would be a real shame if this club died due to a lack of interest.

Pictures Wanted!!!
Bob McDonald

Spring has arrived and so has the opportunity for pictures! Take pictures of any FaGowee's having fun so I can include them in our photo albums. The albums are brought to each and every FaGowee function with the photos of our past events, and I depend on you, the general membership,
to supply those photos for the albums. So...get those pictures taken so I can add them to our archives.

Currently I’m looking for pictures from Yosemite Trip & Family Picnic/Luau!

For the sake of ease in creating and displaying the photo pages, I’d prefer the prints to be 4”x 6” in size.
Also, I would like them in groups of 6 so that they will take up a whole page in the album.
If you have any questions, or photos you’d like to part with, please contact me at 817-4277.

See Photos Online!!!

Goldpoint
Since the trip to Goldpoint started, there has been a steady dwindling of participants.
It seems once someone has gone (except for a few stalwarts) they choose not to do it again the following year.

SO

This year, if I don’t have 12 people lined up by August 1st, I’m going to cancel the trip.
You can notify me of your intent by emailing me.  Please do it before August 1st.

FaGOWEE FUNCTION OR EVENT SIGN-UP LATE FEES
(Approved and Adopted at the Executive Board Meeting on July 11, 2006)

SIGN-UP LATE FEES: On each and every advertised FaGowee club event published in the Snow News newsletter, a sign-up due date will be listed as well as the member and non-member prices to attend that function or event. Any person who signs up and submits their payment for attendance after that published due date will be assessed a 50% late fee penalty. In addition, any person who does not sign up at all to attend a function or event and just shows up at the door will be assessed a 100% late fee penalty (payable in full at that time) before being allowed admittance to that function or event.

FaGOWEE EVENT / TRIP REFUND POLICY
Revised, Approved and Adopted at the Executive Board Meeting, October 8, 2003

  1. The following Refund Policy applies to any Club event for which a fee is charged.

  2. You will automatically receive a 100% refund fur any trip or event cancelled by the Club.

  3. If you cancel and someone takes your place from the waiting list, you will receive a refund of the amount you paid, less a cancellation fee. The cancellation  fee will be $10.00 or 10% of the event/trip fee- whichever is more, unless a specific cancellation fee is advertised for the event/trip.

  4. If you cancel and there is no waiting list, or no one on the list takes your place, you will receive a refund of the amount you paid less a cancellation fee and less any expenses that the Club incurs due to your cancellation.

  5. If you arrange for someone not on the waiting list to take your place, you will be responsible for full payment to the Club plus any transfer fees or costs the Club incurs because of the change. Other money transactions are between you and your replacement. You must provide that replacement with a note for the trip leader or you must confirm the replacement directly with the trip leader prior to the event/trip. The person who submits payment must request all refunds from the Executive Board in writing within 60 days after the completion of the event/trip. The Executive Board will review the final financial report from the event/trip and may approve refunds in accordance with this refund policy.

  6. Any member may appeal to the Executive Board for refunds greater than provided by this policy if special circumstances warrant.

  7. There will be no refund for events that are designated as "Fund Raisers" unless they are cancelled or rescheduled by the Club.

Bragg and join us for a great abalone feast on Saturday night (there will be BBQ chicken for those who have an aversion to abalone).

The club has reserved 14 R/V sites, and most have full hookup available. I will assign sites as I receive your reservation monies, so….. First paid, First Taken. Be forewarned, you snooze-you lose. We have tent sites reserved for those of us still able and would like to “rough it.”
